Leonie and I are currently working a social media project for Kathakbox, a new dance show that will premiere at the Mac on 16th Febuary and then tour internationally, beginning in Abu Dhabi at the end of February.

Kathakbox is a new production from acclaimed choreographer Sonia Sabri and her dance Company, which combines Indian Kathak dance and the rhythms of hip-hop culture. There is no music in the performance, but there is some Kathak rap and beatbox as a background to the visual show.

The show features a line up of very talented artists, dancers Amayra Fuller and Suzanne Grubham, acclaimed vocalist Marcina Arnold and beatboxer Shan Basil, b-boy Nathan Geering and tabla maestro Sarvar Sabri as well as artistic director Sonia Sabri. Hip Hop guru Jonzi D is the production’s artistic consultant and Zena Edwards is guest composer.

As part of the social media project for Kathakbox, Leonie and I are managing the production’s blog, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube and Flickr. We are creating short videos of rehearsals and interviews for upload, showcasing photographs of rehearsals and creating a conversation about the concept of “boxes“. The ultimate aim of the blog is for it to act as an online hub to facilitate communication between artists and young people in the UK and the UAE.
